Puppy Pre School

At Hobart Animal Hospital & Channel Highway Animal Hospital, we know the joy and excitement that comes with getting a new puppy. We know how much pleasure they can bring to you and the boundless and unconditional love that they offer.

They are full of energy (well, in bursts anyway), full of enthusiasm and full to the brim with potential. And that’s why we know that it’s so important to get your puppy started off on the right paw from an early age. This will ensure that you can get the very most enjoyment out of your pup as it grows and matures and becomes a beloved member of your family.

The Puppy Pre-School has been established to help you and your pup get that start. The 4 week course has been designed to teach you about your puppy. You’ll learn how to handle your puppy and how to help it to do the things that you ask of him. The object of the course for your puppy is to have fun, while learning to respect you and learning to play with other puppies. An outline of the course is given below in the Puppy Pre-School Class Info.

If you would like information on class times please give us a phone call or e- mail. We will let you know when the next class starts…it’s as simple as that.

Stem Cell Therapy

What conditions can be treated with stem cell therapy?

Stem cell researchers have developed a variation of pure stem cells that are available "off the shelf" when previously the patient would have had to undergone surgery to first recover the stem cells from their own body. Stem cell treatments are available to treat the following conditions:

  • Osteoarthritis
  • Polyarthritis
  • Cartilage Damage
  • Tendon/ ligament injuries
  • As a supporting treatment to surgeries

Our procedures include a technology for treatment on small and large pets suffering from degenerative joint disorders. This treatment is commonly known as stem cell therapy. Stem cell therapy is based on the use of adult mesenchymal stem cells derived from fat tissue. The role of adult stem cells in all living things is to repair and maintain damaged or diseased tissue or organs.

Stem cell regeneration works by stimulating the bodies own repair mechanisms, mediated by the adult stem cells which possess remarkable regenerative qualities and also act as an anti inflammatory. The treatment may only be administered by a trained veterinarian and depending on the nature of the condition, will require either an intra-venous (into the vein) or intra-articular (into the joint) injection.
